The products are designed and manufactured with the installers and the end user in mind to be time, space, money and space saving, high performing, hygienic and reliable.

Wirquin works closely with customers of all sizes within the professional and DIY markets from national and independent merchants and distributers, to installers, specifiers and project managers including local councils. Wirquin offers them technical product knowledge, installation solutions, and award winning customer support.

Wirquin has helped to boost the local economy and business since buying out CME Sanitary Systems (previously Polypipe Bathrooms & Kitchens) in 2010. The company employs over 220 people, trades with other local businesses and sponsors local sporting venues including Doncaster Racecourse, Doncaster Knights Rugby and Doncaster Rovers.

Celmac Wirquin has been producing toilet seats since 1890. The UK's leading brand of toilet seats are designed and produced to meet a wide range of design and technical specifications some of which have set British Standards. Our innovative manufacturing ensures that the thermoset and thermoplastic seats are resilient and easy to install.

Celmac offers a range of thermoset, thermoplastic and composit to suit all requirements including  high traffic anti-bacterial seats, Doc M, and contemporary decor designs in a variety of colours. There is also a choice of plastic, chrome or stainless steel hinge that are top fix, quick release and soft close. Over one million pieces are annually produced in the Doncaster based plant.

Celmac has produced toilet seats for over 125 years and is historically renowned for the 1930's black crescent shaped school seat with the gap in the front (Crescent) which are not dissimilar to the current Crescent range. Celmac worked with the pottery manufacturers of Stoke to initiate British Standard 1254 Type 1 with the Sonata seat and the  BS1254 Type 2 with the Emerald seat which are still manufactured today and popular in the specification channel.

Celmac was originally known as Robert McArd Ltd, after its founder, who left his thriving business to his daughters, Celia, Elizabeth and Lucy McArd  and the company name was changed to incorporate their initials, Celmac Ltd. In the 1930s, Celmac was one of the first companies to experiment with use of plastics. The early moulded plastic seats were made in Bakelite when they are now more environmental friendly using thermoset material made from urea formaldehyde. Celmac Wirquin is continuously working to improve its materials and designs to lead market trends.
